Dinner on a Budget - Banquet Homestyle Bake

Dinner on a Budget - Banquet Homestyle Bake - Country Chicken, Mashed Potatoes and Biscuits.

I am always on the look out for well priced, tasty, easy meals to feed my family. Tonight we had a customized version of the Banquet Homestyle Bake dinner in a box, Country chicken, mashed potatoes and biscuits. I have always liked the flavor and ease of this meal in a box, not to mention the price.

However, I find that there is not ever enough chicken. Before I lost my job and money got so tight, I would simply add a few cubed chicken breasts that I had quickly pan fried to the mix. Now that we are on a budget, I went a less expensive route and added two cans of canned chicken (20 oz) to the gravy mix.

I added pepper and a little garlic salt to the potatoes before layering the chicken, gravy and biscuits. Dinner was a hit and filled all the bellies in the house.

Homestyle Bake $3.00 x 2 = $6.00
Canned Chicken $1.40 x 2 = $2.80
Blackeyed Peas  $1.19      = $1.19

Dinner Total:                   = $9.99

The meal took about 25 minutes start to finish and fed me, my husband and our two sons.

Happy Budgeting!
